Feedback Fridge

2010

– tangible, visualization

The fridge that can get fat.

Feedback Fridge is a system that visualizes nutrition data in situ and ad hoc through the inflation and deflation of airbags that are situated in the fridge's compartments. With the help of RFID technology the food and its nutrition facts can be identified. By inflating or deflating the airbags accordingly the user is shown how nutritious or healthy/unhealthy his/her food is.

This tangible representation of data at the same time acts as a forcible persuasive instrument. If there is too much unhealthy food inside the fridge the airbags will eventually start to push food out. The user is thereby compelled to put healthier food in the fridge.

Feedback Fridge was presented at the TEI 2011 Graduate Student Consortium.
